Show MISSOURI JUDGE IS SHOT DOWN N HIS SON-IN-LAW Aged Man Goes to Visit His Sick Daughter and Is Murdered Because Be-cause He Trod Upon Forbidden For-bidden Ground. Poplar Bluff, Mo. Former County Judge John A. Hays was shot nnd mortally -wounded on Thursday by his son-ln-lnw, James Williamson, and tho latter Is under nrrost. Tho shooting occurred nt Williamson's house on Judge Hayes' farm, Beveral miles west of here. Pad feeling had existed exist-ed between tho two for four years, nnd Williamson had forbidden his father-in-law to come to his homo. Hearing that his daughter was ill, Judgo Hayes visited Williamson's home. A quarrel ensued, nnd Williamson William-son claims ho was Btruck by his father-In-lnw who followed him Into tho house. In tho house Wllllnmson drew a revolver und shot the Judgo In tho nbdomen. A special trnln carried car-ried physicians and n nurso to tho place, but It l stated that Judgo Hayes cannot recover. Williamson surrendered to tho authorities. Judgo Hayes Is C8 years of age, prominent nnd wealthy. |
