Show I Experimental Farm Gets Good Results from Spraying. The Utah Control Experimental Farm at this plnee'has shown most satisfactory result from spraying for coddling moth and other iulletlon that destroys apple crops. The orchards on this farm iilTonleil excellent ex-cellent opportunities for 11 genuine test, from the fact that until this spring when tho farm was purchased for a mute experiment, ex-periment, tho trees had practically run wild through lack of care. Prof. B U. Hull, entomologist of Agrl-cultural Agrl-cultural College of Utah, experiment station lit- had full charge of the spraying spray-ing and examinations which have been very thorough and at a completion of the test yesterday was gratllled lit the results shown. ' Tho following shows tho percentages of spraying and not spraying. The trees were taken right through tile orchard, one being sprayed and one lulled aud by actual count of all apples the average number of coddllug moths per tree mi unspraved trees being -15; on tho sprayed f trees, the average was but 8. The aver- ' age number of enlyx worms on unspray- ed trees was 17, on the sprayed trees none were found. Averagu number of wormy apples on uusprayed trees was I 28 percent. Average per cent on sprayed ( trees, 8)1 per cent. Two of the sprayed ; tree had no worms at nil; whe one of tha uijspraycd trees had !10 percent i Jformy pp)ui. Tho spraying killed all I cly? wnrms( worms that enter the bios-1 souis end) and 72 percent of the worms enter tho side of the apple. Tlic trees were sprayed twice, and t)ic I jxrecutage of wormy apples on sprayed 5 trees Is much greater than It would h,uvu J been If there was a larger yield of apples 1 the number of worms per tree would . have beeu the .s.uuu. Ora Laraou, manager of the furiuu, reports re-ports that ode half of the remaining vfuuns will bo caught unier tie tree j bands before the season is ovur.
