Show WOODMAN SPARE THAT TREE As the season tor for high highwater water approaches pro aches we are constrained to raise our voice once more in protest against the practice of chopping down trees and brush in the canyon tor for the purpose ot of rip rapping the creek bank where the water threatens to cut it away we have no objections to this means of preventing damage to the road road by highwater high water but where brush is needed there js s plenty to be had up on OB the mountainside the taking of which will bill not mar the beauty ol of the canyon the gaping stumps and jagged ends ot of willow clumps bear mute but impressive witness ot of the devastation that has been wrought in the past in box elder canyon and we favor and urge that a county ordinance lie be passed making it a misdemeanor er punishable by law to cut down or in any way mutilate the timber growth at any point along the canyon such an ordinance strictly enforced could bo be com complemented fed by a campaign of tree planting to replace the trees willows and other shrubs that have been hewed bowed down and in a few years the topography of the canyon would be materially changed and beautified in any event lit let there be no more chopping down trees in the canyon |
