Show WORTHY MAN PASSES ON funeral services were held in the second ward chapel sunday afternoon tor for the late NC native of denmark arid and respected resident of 0 the S second ward tor for the last twelve years the services were directed hy by bishop N J valentine and were attended by a great many people there being relatives arid and missionary friends from distant points to pay a tribute of respect to the worthy man the speakers included mayor N C simonsen Ri 91 C N christensen and hyrum jensen of 0 salt lake isaac A jensen victor E madsen patriarch denmark jensen peter 11 sorensen and bishop valentine each bore witness ot of the sterling character ot of the deceased and each missionary f friend referred ret erred to the part mr played in the erection of 0 the aalborg meeting house of the church ot of jesus esus christ of oe latter day saints for lie he was a member ot of the building committee besides being a contractor and builder by profession arid and because ot of his standing in the commar community ity many obstacles were removed a and I 1 id concessions were obtained which might have boon been impossible otherwise reference terence Re was made also by each missionary ot of the hospitality of 0 mr air and his late wife and family for this good man every missionary who entered his home that the door would always be open to him and he even we went ut so tar far as to point out where the key would be found in ili case the traveling elder called during the absence of the family every speaker referred ret erred to the many kindnesses lie he had received alithe at the hands of the family back in ia lloyd horld in ai a feeling manner the musical program included two numbers by tile the ward choir which sang the selections how firm a foundation and seek relief in prayer the scandinavian choir sang the hymn 1 I am a stranger I 1 am a pilgrim in the danish language victor U B madsen sang the hymn 0 my aly father and E W leo sang the selection ill go where you want me to go the prayers were by orson J olsen oisen and oluf petersen mr air died friday evening from general debility incident to old age lie he was born in it aalborg denmark october 7 1831 and resided in that city until twelve years ago when lie he and his wife arid and daughter and her two sons came to this city As stated in ili the funeral account mr air was a contractor and builder arid and as such had part in ili the construction of many of 0 tile the important buildings in aalborg lie ile owned a fine apartment house or oc five stories and was regarded very highly by all the trades people of the city and the companies which carried building material mrs airs died in this city a few years ago and there are now surviving their parents one son in copenhagen a daughter in chicago a daughter in iowa mrs ingerborg C scow of canada and mrs I laura aura oisen sen of this city there is also a number ber of grand cb children ildren during his residence in this city mr made a host ot of friends whose sympathy goes out to the family in his passing |
