Show UTAH STATE FARM BUREAU in a statewide survey which has included investigation along many lines it has been found that farm and grazing land values in utah have decreased from 25 to 50 per cent since the years 1919 and 1920 the average as disclosed by all of the assembled information shows a decrease of per cent this is the information just made public by the tax and legislative committee of the utah state farm bureau and is being used in a campaign throughout the state to bring about a reduction in assessments tor for 1922 the figures not only bear out the stand taken by the farm bureau delegates in their recent resolution asking for a blanket reduction of 25 per cent according to the tax committee but also will serve as a basis lor for action already taken by assessors and commissioners in some counties in a report which has been made to farm bureau officers in ili every county the committee urges that wherever reduction has not been put into effect immediate steps ste ps be taken to cooper ate with w ith assessors and commissioners comm iss ton ers to this end i As authorized at the january meeting ing of the farm bureau in salt lake I 1 city the tax and leaf legislative commit tee tec consists of five members they are james AT Kirl chairman ei T capener ephraim bergeson geson david I 1 I 1 N beal and hershel bullen concern ing the work of this committee and the plans tor for the future the recent report to tarm farm bureau tax committees throughout the state shows this committee has been busy making a study of 0 land valuations ini the various localities of the state in personal interviews and from letters which we have received from many of the largest real estate companies mortgage loan companies and some of the largest banks include Inc including ludl the fed fedj 1 I 1 j eral era farm loan bank we find that tarm farm and grazing land values have de creased from 25 to 60 50 per cent in making an average of these re plies it shows a reduction of per cent all of which confirms the utah state farm bureau in ili its previous ac aci i tion and recommendation and shows that the farmers were very modest in asking tor for a reduction of 25 per cent we have received reports from some counties to the effect that their assessors backed by the united approval of the county commissioners commissi onera are assessing property making this i it if you have not already done so we urge you to follow and adopt this action of the state farm bureau meet with the county assessor and county commissioners and see that this Is done in your county 1 I the report also shows that the state stale committee has engaged the services ot of frank evans former state senator to assist along taxation and legislative lines in connection with a recent meeting in ee ting of the committee in ili salt lake city the members conferred with governor charles R mabey and it is i s re iorli that they found him thor thoroughly hughly in sa sympathy with the movement to equalize and place on an all equit equitable abl e b basis sis the assessed valuation of agricultural gri property county farm bureau tax committees are advised in the report of the state body that all information assembled relative to the decreased valuation 0 of I 1 tarm farm property is available tor for use in the counties through throughout the state members of the central committee it li also announced are ready at any time to give county tarm farm bureau officers personal assistance along taxation and legislative lines taxation and legislative forms one of trie the principal projects of the state tarm farm bureau this year according to president bergeson and the results to atte fully justify the efforts that have been expended in behalf ot of the tarm farm owners |
