Show IN SOCIAL REALMS the regular meeting ot of the civic improvement club will be held on friday after noon at at the home ot of mrs F W fishburn the change of holding the meeting on another day than thursday is made because of the fact that thursday will be thanksgiving day A special thanksgiving program will be render ed the teachers of 0 the central school realizing that the exaction of everyday school work does not allow tor for sufficiently close chave have organized themselves into a social club they plan on giving a number of socials during tile the year the opening party was given priday friday evening at the home of miss aliss sylvia petersen Pel ersen it was a pleasing variety J affair fair those present were the teachers lers and their partners 1 0 the event of the week in a social I 1 way was the celebration of the golden wedding anniversary of mr air and mrs airs john D peters on saturday last during the afternoon all the children with their children and childrens children to the number of over sixty gathered at the parental home on west eforest forest street where a family feast I 1 was indulged in all being seated at the table at one time after the dinner iner had been disposed of mayor pet aern era arbitrarily took possession of chis his fathers house and in behalf of tho the children presented his father with a I 1 pair of solid gold eye glasses and his mother with a gold watch the program was to give father and mother each a gold watch but the directors of the first national bank asked tor for the privilege of presenting the watch to bair mr peters and the family deferred to otheir their wishes there were many other presents including flowers gold lined spunch punch bowl gold headed umbrellas bigold candlesticks gold crumb set and iother other articles presented by other relatives la tives and friends of the bridal pair jatter after dinner mr air peters his sons bons in law grand sons and grand sons in law chose up sides and played ja a few jig innings of baseball on the square opposite the home the score ending 2 to 1 in favor ot of ahe the side mr air peters was on he himself being responsible pon pon sible tor for one of the tallies mrs peters petera and the wives of 0 the players made up a lusty lunged company of i rooters who cheered each team on to victory in the evening the scene of the celebration was transferred to the I 1 first ward amusement hall where here up i wards of tour four hundred relatives and friends tri ends of mr and mrs airs peters gathered upon invitation and an evenin evening g of unalloyed pleasure was spent A program gram was rendered by tho the children and grand children of a comic nature remarks of a congratulatory nature were made by a number of associates of mr air and mrs airs peters mr air phillip quayle a director of the first national bank presented mr peters with a handsome gold watch and feeling responses were made by the gua guests bof honor A delicious tray luncheon was served and then dancing was engaged in the feature of which was a grand march led by the bridal pair and participated participate d in by all their children and grand children it was wa s a red letter day in the lives of sir air and mrs airs peters and their large family iliad and 1 all their many friends partook 0 f 4 bf ohp throughout through ont the day and since these I 1 splendid citizens have been receiving the congratulations and good wishes of friends and acquaintances from everywhere last evening the misses crystal and nondus jeppson entertained at a most delightful thanksgiving party the rooms were decorated with pumpkin baskets white chrysanthemums and was the game of the evening the prizes being won by alex figgins and bunc junc hansen A dainty luncheon was served and some musical numbers were enjoyed those present were misses amber hamson rl florence orence jones maud forsgren grace forsgren bess 0 I 1 florence watkins lilly I 1 anu knudson adson marco madsen miriam evans imogene jeppson mr and mrs airs win walker mr and mrs airs perry D peters mr and mrs henry frogley alex figgins hon josephson lernest ernest lionel sorensen I 1 fern pett stanley madsen and june hansen 0 tomorrow in the salt lake temple mr air francis le roy christensen of this city will lead to the altar in marriage miss elvira johnson of richmond the groom Is the son of mr mr and mrs airs peter C christensen and a young man of splendid character and s teady steady lia habits bits he served his country in the world war and Is associated with his father and brother in the operation of the farm miss aliss johnson Is one of the popular young ladles ladies of richmond and following their marriage mr and mrs airs christensen will make their home in this city |
