| Show the follo following is it a copy of the inquest hold over the remains of the late a te J V dickenson published itt at the request of relatives P pa 0 O box trucked Truc kec calif july 30 0 1923 mr geo D mathewson conj richfield utah iba dear sir tain fam enclosing a true copy of the verdict of the coroners jury at the inquest into the death of J V dickenson Dicken bon dickenson had been in in aurem our employ aa a laborer on ane construction of a transmission line and the crew ot of linemen with which lie he 1 11 had ad been working was ivas camped at polaris a flag station on the southern pacific ry about two miles east of truckee on july 28 the day of the accident the men had been working in the vicinity of truckee and at quitting time dickenson and a nl man A named fisher started walking down dowil the rat railroad broad track to the camp at pol pl aris about halfway they over took a freight train which was stopped and climbed aboard with the intention of stealing a ride to polaris when the train reached polaris it was traveling about twenty miles an hour dickenson jumped off first and must have lost his nerve when his feet touched the ground foche for he continued to hold on with his hands ar and id ran along beside the cratil for perhaps a car length he finally let go stumbled and rolled under tinder the wheels pie he was killed instantly I 1 am forwarding you his personal effects while with us dickenson wa known as a steady industrious dust rious man and had made many friends we are all very sorry the accident occurred and if there is anything further that we can do or any further information you desire do not hesitate to call on us yours very truly STONE AND WEBSTER W D shannon supt bupt of construction |
