Through the courtesy of the board of school trusees the taxpayers of . Vineyard Vine-yard precinct were tendered a grand hop on Wedneeday night, on the occasion oc-casion of the completion of the new echoolhouse, which received the finishing finish-ing touch on Saturday last. Notwithstanding Notwith-standing a very disagreeable and drizzling driz-zling ram which continued the whole night, the older portion of Vineyard's inhabitants as well a? some from Provo gathered at the new building fully bent on having a gay and old fashioned time ot fun and frolic. One hundred pereons joined in dancing to the music of Groneman's band from Proyo, and partook of cake and wine served by Mrs. C. Nordstrom and aids. As the hour of 12 o'clock (mignight) drew near many were heard humming that good old song, "We Won't Go Home Till Morning," consequently the clock indicated in-dicated the hour of 3 beiore Brother G. M. Smoot implored a blessing upon the departing taxpayers who had come to make meny over the opening of our new schoolhouse. On Thursday evering another party was held in the same building under the auspices of the -Y. M. and Y...L. associations. Although the weather was more severe than on the previous night.a much larger assembly of merrv-makers merrv-makers were present. Madsen's string band of Lake View was in attendance and under the management of Wm. Varley, a very enjoyable night was spent. On Friday afternoon the Sunday school ch: and district school pupils took possession of the house and in their own way of thinking eclipsed the other entertainments of Wednesday and Thursday. The new echoolhouse will now be closed against any other purpose then that of educational. If Professor Cederstrom would make a phrenological examination upon the head of the writer of this article he would disclose the fact that the writer's descriptive faculty is indeed way below be-low zero, bo a meagre attempt to describe de-scribe this beautiful structure will suffice suf-fice at this writing: The main, or north room is 24 feet by 42, the wing or south room is 20 ft by 30 ft. and the entrance hall or Tower is 12 ft. by 12 ft. The seating capacity is about one hundred and forty and the cost will be somewhere in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of two thousand dollars. The people of Vineyard are truly to be congratulated upon the election of such men as Messrs. Christain Soren-een, Soren-een, John Gillies and W. D. Lewis as school trustees. Congratulations aire also due to these gentlemen for procuring procur-ing the valuable services of Mr. T. T. Daviee, architect, and Thos.Groneman, builder. The old schoolhouBe will in all probability proba-bility be vacated in a few days and will then pass into the hands of the taxpayers, who have already bought it and will be used for meetings and social entei tainments.
