Show nineteenth Century Ulub. The members of the Nineteenth Century club met as usual yesterday afternoon at the home of E. A. Wedgwood. Wedg-wood. After the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting a number of short biographical sketches were read, "'Des Cartes," a French philosopher, by MisB Stella Brown; "John Calvin," a French protestant reformer, by MrB. Rose: 'Tarcal," a French philosopher and mathematician, by Miss French; "Corneille and Racine." French dramatic dra-matic poets, by Miss Josephine Kellogg. Kel-logg. Mrs. Wedgwood reviewed the domestic news of the week in an interesting inter-esting manner. After recess and quotations quota-tions Mies Alice Kellogg engaged the attention of the club with a lengthy but an excellent paper on "The Women of the French Salon." A few moments were deyoted to a parliamentary drill by Mrs. Coray. Miss M. J. French reviewed re-viewed the foreign news. After the critic's report, the club adjourned to meet with Miss Florence Pemberton next Friday. The ladies present were: Mesdames Wedgwood, Ross, Coray, Monahan, Bonham, Rose and the Misses Rose Moore, M. J. Fiench, Florence Pemberton, Ida Jones, M. F. French, Josephine Kel-loeg, Kel-loeg, Helen Brinkerhoff, Stella Brown, Alice Kellogg and Lizzie Thompson. |
