Just beyond the mill race he collided - with a horse on the back of which was seated Lyman York. The shaft of Mr. Daley's cart was driven into York's horse cutting a fearful gash in the animals throat and breast. It staggered and fell into the mill race dying almost instantly. Mr. York got off the hdrse without being hurt himself. A crowd of men soon dragged the dead animal out of the water. No blame is to be attached to either Mr; Daley- or Mr.- York for the accident. At that particular place the lights flickering from the stores makes it impossible to see dietiactlv iu the middle of the road, and Mr. Daley had to take the course he did or run into a telegraph pole on one. side or the mill-race mill-race on the other. |
