Show Nineteenth Century Club. The Nineteenth Century club met with Mrs. Ross yesterday afternoon, A "hit or miss" program was very much enjoyed, each member taking part as she desired. Alter the minutes were read and approved Miss Brown talKed about the passion play as played by the peasants. The play lasts eight hours, and seven hundred people take pait Mrs. Monahan read a poem, entitled "At Lincoln's monument.'' Mrs. Ross read an interesting description descrip-tion of "A Chinese Shop." Mrs. Bartow Bar-tow read "The Cackle of the Bouge," showing that there are two classes of people in which gossip is a very infrequent infre-quent thing, the young lady and the eociety woman. Miss BrinkerhoU read "The Two Palaces." The domestic Dews of the week was reveiwed by Mrs, Rose. After a recess of ten minutes, min-utes, Miss Jones read 4 How Ruby Played," giviDg a humurous description of a little boy listening to the playing of Anton Rubinstein.Miss Alice Kellogg read a very interesting poem, Mrs. Rose related a very pathetic story of what actually happened in the early days in Vermont. Miss M. J. French read an article on "The First Woman's Club." Miss Thompson followed with a poem, "Hannah Binding Shoes." Mrs. Wedgwood read a chapter from "Coin's Financial School." The club accepted the kind invitation of Mrs. Ross to meet with her during the months of March and April. The club then adjourned. |
