| Show BOX ELDER HIG HIGH boost dont kick Is the slogan of the box elder high school that great things are accomplished I 1 in team work lias has been discovered by the school anti and as a result the combined efforts ot or all the students are proving that the sparks of enthusiasm and ability are still alive in the student body of 0 the school and ta that tat they are not only unquenchable but will be tanned fanned and helped along until they become a consuming blaze ever increasing and accumulating until we will have unexcelled ability and enthusiasm thu thusia sm that cannot be checked educational week was not merely a phrase to us but each day put new emphasis on the meaning by presenting to us some new and startling event vc nt beginning Tue seday of the week when mr rich delivered to us a strong talk on the educational campaign each successive day added something new wednesday mr george D casto with picturesque phrases and examples told us ol of the betterment of life of forming higher ideals and of the necessary education and training of the hand head and heart his talk was one of the best ever given to us and we appreciate it very much and heartily invite him to come here again thursday was not only a great educational cat ional day but one set aside by the doys boys club as rathers fathers day und one that will be listed in the annals of the school on oil this day dr gowans gave a stirring address to the tha boys and their fathers after which he spoke to the whole student body tor for a few moments we also enjoyed a short talk given by mr air kirkham Kirk bam both speakers whom we have heard before we are more than anxious to hear again altho most of tile the former mentioned speakers were not of our school we did our part on friday one of the best programs of th the e week was presented the scholastic part of the educational campaign was discussed by six eligible students who gave us not merely the problem but the solution as well training the mind tho it be a very important and distinct function is not the only one of oil our r school the physical body Is equally trained each year new material is added to our already large list both on the football field and on oil the basketball floor As an introduction and preparation tor for our great basketball season the class series were played and from the class teams the B B E 11 S star team is chosen great skill was shown in the class series this year and tho the class of 21 1 has tor for two years been victorious and even now have a very strong team they were over scored outplayed by a faster team every class showed good spirit but nevertheless the sophomores five left tile the field with colors flying and the honors on their heads beads the winning team was fast and did wonderful team work they played tour four games and were defeated only once that being by the juniors their main lineup line up Is ray boothe center odell nelson and howard elison forwards julius burt and ursel hunsaker guards from the material shown in the class games we will be able to select a school team that w will ill stand stron strong and irresistible against any other high school team of th the a state the season will be an air interesting one and well worth the seeing the first game is played with logan during this week on wednesday of next week our b boys oy s will meet the strong team of south cache during the christmas holidays our basketball boys are planning to travel southward and show the teams ot of tooele thoele grantsville Grants ville lehi and pleasant grove what they mean and how they stand the boys are determined but they need the combined sup support port of the student body and ami townspeople towns people will vill they win will tile the series it is tor for you and us to ae determine termine As a new and different entertainment the faculty of 0 the school is presenting a vaudeville even tho you may not believe it we have the real stuff in our faculty and it will be proven in their great performance it is going to be a stunner so everybody come I 1 TERESSA ADAMS reporter f |
