Show "A Book Concekt" will be given in the tabernacle on Saturday evening next under the auspices of the poly-sophical poly-sophical society of the B. Y. academy. Madame DeLoery and Mr. A. C.Lund, with some of our best local talent, will appear on the program. No money will be charged for admiseion. The entrance en-trance fee will be a book for the school's library. In the consfituticnal convention 3'es-terday 3'es-terday Dr. Maeser presented a petition from fifty citizens of the Fourth ward of Provo asking for the subn-ission of the article on prohibition. Partridge presented a petition to the same effect from forty-live citizens of Provo. He also presented the resolutions adopted by the prohibition mass meeting held one Sunday here lately. Then the convention went into committee of the whole and considered six sections of the biil of rights and two of the article on education. Primary and grammar grade schools will be free in the new state; high schools may be established, but it is not obligatory on the legislature legisla-ture to make them free. |
