Show "3 11 n,i 1 i iiniiic.wii:r' 'orirnnwTrn'i-rvi.niiMi At the meeting of the Utah County Fruit & Agricultural society yesterday afternoon, Messrs Berry Wride o'f Payeon, James Miller of Spanish Fork, Evan Wride of Provo, Thomas A. Shelley of American Fork, and Israel Eyans of Lehi, delegates especially appointed at farmers' meetings held in their respective towns to attend this meting, spoke upon the banefits that the farmers of the county have aiready derived from tbe Eociety and the great good the society is capable of doing and will do in the future for them, and advocated ftbe establishment 0! branches of the society in the difiirert towns of the county. Considerable time waB wasted by certain members talking extensively and practically to no purpose upon the method of assessing assess-ing members for the payment ot the expenses of the society. Talking to no purpose, for the reason that the obiec-ioub obiec-ioub pointed out were realized by all during last year, the first and really experimental year of the society, and because a compc-tent committee nad been appointed to revise the by-laws and It was these defects mainly that rendered it necessary jto appoint tbe revision committee. This talk consumed tbe time and some matters as to potato raising this year, planting a uniform variety etc and with reference to other crops also, which it was intended to present before the meeting, had to be held back. The old officers, W. II. Kelsey of Springville, president, Thomas Leonard of Provo, vice-president, F, J. Covert of Provo manager and secretary, Evan Wride of Provo treasurer were re-elected. Directors for J the ensuing year were elected as follow: P. II. Boyer Springville, Jas. Miller Spanish Fork, Abe Halladay Provo, Berry Wiide Payson, Israel Evans Lehi, Geo. dinger Provo Bench, Thomas A. Shelley American Fork, II. B. Sterret, Pleasant Grove, John Gillies, Vineyard, William Anderson, Pleasant View ward, Mads. Jorgensen, Lake View, A. M. Johnson. Spanish Fork, William Drewery Springville, A directors' meetieg will be held at the office of the company in this city, on Saturday next. |
