All of the evidence cn both sides of ! the lerael Evans ys. the .Netherland Fine Stock. & Dairy company was given in the First District court last evening and argt?fents by the attorneys attor-neys were made. This morning at 9:30 the juiy was charged by Judge Kin?. Ttie suit was brought to collect $92J 00 for wages and $315.00 on an open account for produce, etc. Defendants De-fendants denied owing plaintiff anything any-thing and claimed $1,346.92 from plaintiff plain-tiff on an open account. The jury Btaid out considering the verdict all the forenoon. At 2 o'clock this afternoon it returned into court, nine of the juror's having agreed to a verdict for plaintiff in the sum of $603.75. Sam. A. King, E. A. Wilson and M. M. Warner were appointed, a committee commit-tee to examine "William Ashton and E G. DeFrieze, both of Uintah county, applicants for admission to the bar. JUDGK SMITH ON THE BKXCH; At 10 o'clock, Judge Smith of the Fourth District court took the bench. Judge King gave way and took the I first train for Ugden. The first case taken np by Judge Smith was the suit brought by George Searle, ex-sheiiff of Uintah county, against the county for $756,00 services as jailor and for $209.66 expense and cost of apprehending and bringing to trial Elisha Jones, who was accused of homicidp. Mr. bgarle fc'js ozher claims against the county; this case, by stipulation, is being tried without prejudice aa to them. Sam A. King and E.A.Wilson E.A.Wil-son appear for the plaintiff; the county is represented by D. D. Houtz. A verdict for $120.60 was found for Searle. |
