Show I Tar and Tartar, to be produced at the Provo.opera house on Monday even ing next by the Pyke Opera company, contains some remarkable nunbere;the principal of these is the "Medley of Nations, which occurs in tne last act, Competent critics have pronounced it one of the greatest compositions ever written, and it is certainly one of the mcst exciting to an American audience. In this number, the full strength of the company is on the stage in splendid splen-did costume9 and each member carrying a different national flag The ensemble begins with "God Save the Queen,,' from the Brir-ieh Brir-ieh flag, instantly a aozen different national airs join in and the musical effect is weird and bewildering, While the contest for supremacy is at its height, an immense American flag is brought in from the wiugs and waved over the footlights, and instantly every other national flag disappears and is replaced by the stars and stripes; the company rushes down to the front and burstB into the "Star Spangled Banner" Ban-ner" and the number concludes with a frantic waving of flags. |
