Show nineteenth Century Club. The club met at the home of Mrs. Coray. In the absence of the vie president Mrs. Bartow, Miss Jennie French a;ted as president. Miss Hose Moore was secietary pro tern, and Miea Florence Pemberton filled the critic's chair. An excellent talk on "Guten-1 "Guten-1 berg and the Art of Printing" was given by Miss Jennie French, which was greatly enjoyed ty the members mem-bers present. Mrs. Reed very caiefully reviewed the domestic newB for the past week, eppaking principally prin-cipally of the National Educational convention, con-vention, now being held in Denver, and of the Christian Endeavor convention. conven-tion. After recess the roll was called and each member responded with a quotation. "The club was then treated to an Intellectual In-tellectual feast, the review of "Faust" by Miss M. F. French. The most beautiful beau-tiful and forcible parts of the book were clearly brought out by the speaker. Goethe deserves great credit for the wonderful course his hero pursues to gain redemption, and the touching manner in which Marguerette is saved. Miss Rose Moore spoke briefly of the foreign events which have occurred the past week. Resolutions of respect was then read on the death of Mrs. Brown, mother of Miss Stella Brown, an active club member. The club was then adjourned to meet in one week with Miss reiVberton. |
