Show COUNCIL PASSES BOND ORDINANCE the city council met tuesday even ing ng november 1920 at 7 those present were mayor peters councilmen phillips Dar bargeron geron dunn hansen and matalas Mat hlas report of H J Al marble arble for the third quarter 1920 was submitted accepted and ordered tiled filed mr ellas elias jensen appeared relative to damages claimed to have been done to his lee ice machine when the water was turned out of 0 the system during the tall fall of 0 1919 tor for the purpose ot of making repairs matter referred to councilman mathias for investigation and report mayor peters presented the name of y mrs R T willey to act as a member ot of the library board to till fill the term ot of E P horsley resigned appointment ratified john P christensen and 0 11 mathews appeared as a committee representing the owners of the property south ol of the old city limits which was recently annexed to brigham city mr christensen made protest against the city levying a tax on this property during the year 1920 from the fact that it did not become a part of the city until may 1920 and after the assessment ses had been made council decided that brigham city has no jurisdiction is in the matter mr 0 H mathews asked tor for a refund ot of 1300 amount paid to brigham city tor for water meter As mr mathews Is now a resident of this city and on oil the flat rate the refund was granted city attorney W J lowe was present and read a communication from the U 1 I C R R co protesting against brigham city levying a tax tor for the year 1920 on its 95 of a mile of 0 railroad in the new south addition the matter was discussed and the S sense e n so of the council was that brigham city has no jurisdiction in this matter I 1 attorney lowe reported his trip to chicago in the interest ot of the sale ol of brigham cites electric light bonds mr air lowa expressed himself as ha having I 1 g h had a d a very interesting and satisfactory I 1 trip tri and burtner furt lier stated s katr 4 that t of the bonds was on the R 1 press before lie left chica chicago go and ahat that Drig brigham harn city would without doubt receive the bonds within the very near future an ordinance was introduced entitled an ordinance providing for the issuance of 01 of electric light donds bonds of the city of brigham Drig hain city utah prescribing the form of the dond bond levying A tax to pay the interest upon said donds bonds As it falls due and creating A slaking sinking fund to be used in retiring said donds bonds at maturity and confirming the sale of said bonds moved by phillips Phillip sand and seconded by hansen that the said ordinance be placed upon its third and last reading slid and passed same to take tahe effect upon its passage approval and publication the roll was called with the following result phillips aye bargeron aye dunn aye hansen aye matalas aye upon motion duly carried the city recorder was authorized to have the said ordinance published according to law city manager roskelley no skelley reported d that the outside work at the new power plant site is completello completed complete dlo to the extent that brigham city can now ask the manufacturers tor for designs on water wheels councilman phillips was authorized 1 to confer with city attorney lowe in the matter q of having the name of brigham Brig liam cit city y corporation withdrawn from th the e action wherein the L D S Ilo hospital I 1 and Drig frigham hain city municipal corporation et al appear as plaintiff in the action against B 11 jones et al councilman phillips also reported that the county assessor suggests that brigham city tal tale e action to detach from fr 01 in brigham city sections 17 20 and a part ot of sections 29 and 8 town ship 3 9 north range I 1 west S L AT matter taken under advisement I 1 I 1 councilman hansen reported report cil that res residents in the northeast north east part of tile the city request that a light be placed on the corner of 0 3rd ard and fourth east streets granted moved seconded and carried that payrolls covering warrants no to and from no to no be paid meeting adjourned to friday evening november 26 at 7 P al |
