Show MEETING OF CENTRAL CAMP the fifth annual meeting of the daughters of 0 the pioneers was held last monday evening at the home ot of pres jane E compton all the guests used their maiden names A synopsis of 0 the history of dom box elder county as far as it has been compiled was given by lydia W forsgren incidents ot of pioneer life were given by each member present vocal solos miss jennie compton old time step dancing in costume by rachel evans and elizabeth wright reading by rachel evans old time quadrilles were enjoyed by all the guests then visited a room which represented a pioneer home A typical fire place was perhaps the most striking feature with aud irons used by susannah P booth in the old fort ot of 1853 and a bake kettle used in this same fort by the parents of jonah mathias other interesting articles in the room were a gun used by simon halverson in the echo canyon war an old fashioned corded bedstead made by AT W dalton in the early fifties a bed spread made by mrs airs sylvia beecher of 0 willard about fifty years ago some pillow cases made by mrs clarinda beecher about the same time a chair made in the first house built on the surveyed lots ot or ogden by M W dalton a chair with a rawhide bottom made by henry hen booth in the early sixties A rag carpet was used on the floor and the room was lighted with candles placed in old fashioned candle sticks and turnips hollowed out to fit the candles also a lantern made in early days by valentine Valent ineson and a stand brought across the plains from nauvoo 0 by harriet S snow the camp was named alter after harriet S snow whose picture hung above the fireplace pioneer refreshments were served consisting of sandwiches I 1 pickled bee beets ts squash pie serviceberry service berry pie molasses cake
