Since the crusade against unlawful cohabitation cohabi-tation was commenced in "Washington several weeks ago, over 400 couples living together as man and wife have been married by a preacher, regularly retained for that purpose by the Washington Wash-ington Times, the newpaper edited and owned by O. G. Conn, ex congressman congress-man from Indiana. In conversation with a friend at the Arlington, ex-Senator Edmunds, of Vermont, author of the celebrated anti-Mormon statute, remarked that in introducing the law in congress he had not the remotest idea of its application to the District of Columbia. He further eaid that while this was true, the law waB beyond doubt j applicable to the District. |
