Show - - Having succeeded in obtaining the best and most perfect cutting machine used in the making of dresses, Mrs. Craik is now ready to serve her lady friends in all the latest styles, at her rooms, in the old Tithing building, on Centre street, opposite Court house. Call and see children's ready made suits, cheap. We learn from J. L. Clayton, the plumber, that a contract has been let to David James, of Salt Lake City, to put in a system of water-works for Manti. The wnter will be obtained from a spring about one mile southeast south-east from the city, and will be conveyed con-veyed in wooden pipas. These pipes are preserved through a cei tain process, pro-cess, and will last for a great number of years. They come at a much cheaper rate than any other kind. Mr, Clayton iurther says that work on the trenches into which the pipe will be laid has already commenced. The Dispatch congratulates Manti on her enterprise. The boat at the Sun Foundry has been removed from the work-shop into the yard, where it is being painted. By the engineering skill of Col. C. D. Moore, it was moved without the slightest accident. A crib was built under the boat, where its keel rested on posts. When thoroughly blocked, and the rollers set in place, the posts were sawed from under it, showing great care, as the boat did not move a hair-bieadth when the posts were taken out. Ropes were then attached, and the boat moved ir.to the yard. Col. Moore is to be congratulated on his work. The engine will 1 e placed in poi-ion ,n j. he course of a few days, I and then it will be moved to the lake and launched. |
