He is expected home to-night, along with his prisoners. The board of loan commissioners met Monday and considered bids for the purchase of territorial bonds. The offer of th.e Utah National Bank was accepted, $1,000 each for ten bonds. The purchase price was par, with two months' accrued interest. The board will meet again next Mondav, when, possibly, other bonds will be sold. There is ?70,oo0 yet to sell. The pool tournament began Monday evening at Riley & Bennett's, saloon. Two prizes are offered, first prize S25, second prize S10. Messrs. Jevne and Markman were th.e first contestants for honors. Jevne played 100 balls to Markman's 05. The game resulted in a victory for Mnrkman. Jevne then crossed .sticks w ith Frank Kanight and came out on top. The tournment will end this evening. The Ogden Liberals met Mondav afternoon and framed the following ticket, for their com in municipal election: Mayor, J. W. McNutt; recorder, re-corder, Thos. Brvan; Assessor; It. G. Hume; treasurer, W. V. Ilelt'rich; marshal, J. W. Metcalf. It was a clean sweep. When yoting for mayor was called, tlui present incumbent, ' F. J.Kiesel. received but 6 votes; David Evans got 23. |
