Show A Squabble Over Tipping:. The great tipping question in the house of commons dining and refreshment rooms is still unsettled. Heated debates tike place thereon at every meeting of the kitchen committee, and bitter personal per-sonal feuds have resulted therefrom. The majority of members are opposed j to fees to waiters. Notices have been posted in the rooms forbidding the practice, prac-tice, and a circular has been sent to every member to the same effect, but the minority are strong and defiant and ostentatiously tip every waiter rendering render-ing them service. The committee threaten threat-en to dismiss servants accepting a fee, and the minority declare that they will bring every case of dismissal before the house. It is probable that the speaker's authority will have to be invoked before long. London Trutiw |
