In the council yesterdry besides the routine work done some new measures were introduced and two bills to tinker with the finances were tabled. The house held a morning and aiter-noon aiter-noon session, but transacted little business busi-ness in the aggregate. The position of the revenue bill relating to the school tax was considered for almost two hours and the bill went over. The militia bill was laid on the tabli. Powers' Pow-ers' to place the police and fire departments depart-ments on a non partisan basis, was passed unanimously. The bill providing provid-ing for tne branding and inspection of cattle was ukillea after a long debate. Several new measures were presented. The resolution abandoning capitol grounds presented by Hatch on Saturday Satur-day and tabled was taken up and referred re-ferred to I the committee on capitol grounds.
