Show THE COUNTY C0UHT. Report of Committee on , Provo Canyon Ko..d.- Wasatch County Finally Agrees To Help Pay For its Purchase. The County Court met in special session TiifSilay atUTtioon. Judge lones slated that the object of the session was for the purpose of considering the reports of t lie committee commit-tee appointed to construct :i vaf,on tiridnw across Spanish Fork river near Spanish Fork city, and a wagon bridge across Provo river leading to L-tke View. Also to consider the report of tue Probate Judge and County Attorney Attor-ney on the status of the Provo canon road. The court and committees occupied the afternoon in checking over the several accounts connected with said bridges and then adjourned. On Wednesday morning the County Court resumed session, v ! i Judge Jones and the County Ai: .rney reported re-ported verbally that certain concessions conces-sions had been made by the Provo ('anon Wagon Road Company, and also by the County Court of Wasatch, with reference to the sale of said road and they recommended it advisable that a personal inspection of the road be made before definite action be taken thereon. So at 10:30 a. m. the Court took recess for th at purpose, and --( ! in a body to make said inspection . returning they went to the Lake View bridcre. over Provo River, and made personal inspection of that, returning to t he Courthouse at 7:30 p. m. When Court resumed session at 9:30 a. tn., Thursday, the committee on Spanish Fork bridge submitted the following report: To the County Court if Utah County: Gkntlemkn: Your committee on the Spanish Fork River bridge, having on Jaruary 30. 1891, reported the completion com-pletion of the iron work on said bridge, according to contract, and the same navmg neen accepteu ny you, uo no .v hereby report the completion of the wood work and appriadies to said bridee. and that the same is now being used by the traveling puNir. The vouchers for tbe payment of $ 1.84). 00, the contract price of said bridge, is hereby attached. J. D. -Tones, Jno. Jones. Committee. The report wis accepted. The committee on the Provo Canon Road, submitted the following: 2o the Count 1 Court nf Utah Co. Gentlemen-: Your committee, to whom was referred the question of determining the liability of this and Wasatch county, for the payment, of ti e sum of $4,000, to Provo Canon Road Co.. in view of the fact that the last named county decline to pay anv amount whatever for the purchase of said road, beg leave to submit the following: fol-lowing: After a. careful investigation we are of the opinion that while Wasatch Was-atch county is morally bound by the proposition agreed upon as set forth in the minutes of this court under date of January 30, 1891, yet the record of the County Court of said county is s i inc inplete.and the powers delegated to the committee alluded to in said minutes, above mentioned, are so limited, it is very doubtful whether tin re is any legal obligation that could be enforced With respect to Utah cuiint we are of the opinion that it is perhaps liable for the amount agreed upon, as its proportion of the purchase price of said road, provided the road lyin;:iii Wasatch county is declared free and exempt from the payment of ton. t your committee nas tisrther to report that, pending their investigation, investi-gation, a n-'W proposition was submitted submit-ted bv Piovo Cafion Road Company which is hereto annexed, and mad? a part of this report, in whih it is stated that S3 .500 would be accepted for the road and franchise of said company. com-pany. Ihdliday, Clerk of theonnty Court of this county, and : County Court of that county ha- agreed in writiiur providing that ai the June term. 1891, for the payment of $500 as part of the purchase price of said road, and have orally agreed to place in the hands of Utah county a Territorial warrant calling for $2,000, as an indi-! indi-! cation of their trood faith, and to secure se-cure the payment of said $"300, provided provid-ed Utah county w ill agree to pay the balance. |
