Show This morning at 2:30 o'clock, ust after the bovs of the fire department who had attended the ball inSprinsville had gotten nicely tucked in bed, the alarm of fire was given. Some were so soundly asleep that they failed to hear the bell, but thirteen of them reached the fire and worked faithfully until 5:30 this morning. The blaze issued from the brick cottage belonging to and until un-til yesterday occupied by Wm. Enders located on A street between First and Second streets. When the fire boyB reached the site the roof was all ablaze and practically burned. By tne m i.hn fire was extinguished nothing but the walls of the building remained. Mr. Enders is a newcomer here from Nebraska who has been so unfortunate as to establish for himself a rather unenviable reputation for straight forwardness in business matters, tie is a corpenter by trade and has of late been out of emplovment. He had nothing noth-ing and could get no credit in town and was compelled to move out. His family had gone to Lehi or American Fork and he followed them on the late train last night. There was little or no furniture in the house leit. There was a mortgage against the house for $900, and $1,500 insurance on the house and furniture. The fire is thougnt to be of incendiary origin and some ugly rumors have been circulated on the streets todav, but as vet they have not been proven to have foundation. |
