Show E. A. Wilson, of this city, has been appointed chancellor of the University of Utah by Governor West. Mrs. B. F. Fleiner did not leave as expected last night. Her trip is deffered until the last of next week.She was un able to get ready. Marshal Fowler arrested Ike Tiem-rel Tiem-rel at Helper at 2 o'clock this morning for incest, but Tiemrel has spirited the girl, his niece, away and now she has to be hunted up. The city teams under Mr. Allred are doing efficient work in the western part of the city. It seems the mud has made special efforts at locating on the crossings. A great many loads of gravel are being sent down for which western residents are grateful. The tabernacle will no doubt be filled on Saturday evening. The program will be made up of classic and popular selections, Wagner'e, "Hail Bright Abode," is the grandest chorus our choir has attempted. With the orchestral orches-tral accompaniment, it is a glorious composition. A bankrvpt stock of general merchandise mer-chandise has been placed on sale in the store room adjoinine the post office. The place is crowded with people purchasing, pur-chasing, and it will pay all persons desiring to purchase goods cheap to call ' early and get a choice. i Chief Fowler last evening received a telegram from Helper stating that one Ike Timbrel a married man of that place is guilty of incest and asking for an officer to make arrests. Mr. Fowler went to Helper on the late train last evening, and will ai rest Mr. Timbrel and bring the I witnesses obtainable to go direct before the grand jury. i In spite of mud, about a dozen ladies swooped down on Mrs. Ellen Jakeman last night to aEk her how she liked to be thirty five like the rest of them. There was an elegant luncheon served by the lady's mother and daughters. who did not Beem in the least surprised. sur-prised. The Dispatch job rooms yesterday turned out some blank cher.ks fnr th First National bank equal to the best lithograph work. They were ordered by the bank for S. M. Duggins who had his card printed on them and he is more than delighted with them. There is no need of sending money out of Provo for any kind of printing. The work done at The Dispatch job rooms is equal to the best done anywhere. Mr. A. J. Beckman, the hatter and dyer, leaves tonight for Ogden haying j cleared up all the work there was to be done in his line here and in every case has given the utmost satisfaction. It is hoped that business will justify his permanent location when he visits Provo again. Mr. Beckman will leave Mr. VanVoorhis here to look after any customers that may be left whose work will be sent to Ogden. |
