Show AN OBJECT LESSON. Continuing the subject of yesterday relatiye to ihe centralization of wealth and power in Silt Lake city, we will answer the query that will arise as to where thefcapital of Utah should be located to beifree from the corrupting influence ofc wealth. The place we would sii2ges?yias been in the minds of the majority of the" psople of Utah, and that Is Froyo, and we will as briefly as possible set forth the advantages advan-tages ot the proposed location. First it is nearer the geographical centre of Utah than is Salt Lake city. Second, it l-4nrcat exactly in the center cen-ter of the population; and third, Utah -county is composed of seven large towns, each of which has a pull on that section of the country immediately immedi-ately surrounding it. This condition precludes the possibility of any centralization cen-tralization of wealth in Piovo so far as the present '"distribntiju of wealth in Utah county J3 cmcerned. The residents resi-dents of Provo and f Uf.-h county are composed of honest agticultuilsts. There are no.real ettute dealers tliat are pulling lor all there is in Utah merely to advance the price of real estate; there is a total absence of speculative spec-ulative sharks that live on that which can be wrjincfromjhpeoplo by legislative leg-islative jobbryTIrjfacE; Utah county presents an almost ideiil condition of decentralized wealth. In Proyo we And everything needfel for erecting the capit.il building, and a people willing to do their part. In Provo we flod an influence that would not be inimical to honest legislation for all of the people; such legislation as would not tend to enslave the countiy people to build up that pap-fed town calltd Salt Lake city. Weask the voters of Utah to con-aider con-aider what The Dispatch nas had to say on the Bubject of the evil tendency there is in centializing everything in sight, present and prospective, in Salt Lake city. We ask the voters to remember re-member that centralization of wealth and power has been the slogan and logical result of republicanism from the old imperialist whiga, led by Hamilton, down tnrough the federalists federal-ists to the present off-spring and representative rep-resentative of the interests of the rich and well-born called the republican party. And that in its decent to the unfathomable un-fathomable depths of selfishness, bigotry, big-otry, and corporation iobbery has, in in Utah, culminated in the Salt Lake Tribune that now has the effrontery to pose aB the representation of liberty and progress. |
