Ya., held a grand barbecue to celebrate the division of the county. Tables wero spread in tho street, and all traffio was suspended. Hundreds of stalwart mountaineers came in with their wives and children from tho region re-gion roundabout. Eight big blaok bears had been shot within a mile or two of the town, and their carcasses, served in barbecue stylo, were tho piece de resist ance of the feast The bears wero flank-yd flank-yd and surrounded with roasted and baked 'possums, wild turkeys, pheasants, quaiL rabbits and all sorts of domestic fowl- Potatoes by the barrel were roasted, and pmipkin pies by the hundred hun-dred lined tho tables. He stood at the head of the table with a half open valise, va-lise, from whioh the butts of three big revolvers protruded.
