Show "THIS IS A DEMOCRATIC YEAR." We have received from a friend down in Millard county, a copy of the politico-religio brochure that has been iasuedbythat goodly man, the Bev. Charles Crane of Kanosh. Charley is ?reat in respect to issuing political works and in supporting men that have the gentle aroma of divine favor clinging cling-ing to or overshadowing them. Charley's first effort was the "Nuggets "Nug-gets of Truth" which we carefully disinfected dis-infected and laid away and which we occasionally look at in order to keep the greatness and inspired genius of the man from Kanosh, fresh in our memory. His last and greatest effort (barring the omission of the portraits) is not unlike the Nuggets of Truth, and is to serve the purpose of influencing the people of Utah to send Ikey Bar' Trumbo to the U. S. senate instead of Frankie to congress. The brochure begins with a familiar quotation from Thomas Jefferson, and which is as follows: "Equal and exact justice to all men, of whatever state or persuasion, religious relig-ious or political." Thomas Jeffkkson. The funny little eight page petition then quotes the following letter: 8alt Lake City, Utah, July 18, 1894, Colonel Tkusibo, Tbe Shoresman, Washington, D, C: From the days of our travail in the Wilderness, we have hopefully looked orward to the time when our territory should be recognized by the nation as an honored member of its family of states, and while we now accept, with hearts full of toanksgiving and praise to the God of nations, for what he hath so marvolously and wonderfully wrought, we rejoice with, and congrat ulate you on the successful termination termina-tion of your labor, which has resulted in Utah's enfranchisement, and polit ical deliverance to her people. For while your hand has not been Been, and others claim all. the honor, those who know the facts fully appreciate your efforts, and freely accord to you their heartfelt gratitude for the deep interest you have taken in the matter. WiLFOiiD Woodruff, George Q. Cannon, Joseph F, Smith. Then at the bottom of the first page are a few lines that give the motive for publishing the above letter, "dead away." To the people of Utah, who can afford af-ford (regardless of political affiliations) to ba honest and just to the deserving, is this brochure addressed. "Begardless of political affiliations," affilia-tions," means that reverent, democrats demo-crats as well a3 republicans ought to reward Isaac by sending him to the senate. J On the next page there Is couched in stately sentences a defense of l3aac by that great apostle of church influence, the Rev. Charles Crane of Kanosh.- The Dispatch asks every one to read in a spirit of tenderness, this last appeal from the redoutable ex-g. o. p. chairman for his next friend, Isaac Bar'l Trumbo, |
