Show CONCERT IN STIR THEATRE 0 the concert given in the star theatre on february last by the music faculty ot of rowland hall girls school salt lake was in every way a decided success the concert was under the direction ot of miss adaline N jones director ot of musical studies at rowland hall not a seat was vacant in the theatre and every number on the program was received with hearty applause owing to emergency duties at tho the hospital dr joselyn was unable to come out from salt lake but prof houstman very kindly gave an extra reading which was thoroughly en joyed as was all his readings miss margaret ryan gave two pianoforte numbers and was loudly applauded for her fine execution of chopin berceuse miss gladys ellwood also gave two pianoforte solos which she played exceedingly well miss marjorie stevenson in addition to having a rich contralto voice which was heard to good effect in an indian love song and an irish love song contributed a spanish dance tor for which she got a very well merited encore miss adaline jones sang very beautifully two groups of songs which had been carefully chosen the last group dost thou know and birth of morn being exceptionally well received the program opened and closed with a trio given by the misses mary S ramsdell gladys ellwood and marjorie A stevenson accompanied by miss jones it can be safely said that the audience enjoyed a fine musical treat and we hope that rowland hall will visit us again in the future at the conclusion of the concert a private dance was given in honor of the visitors in the finn hall on saturday morning through the courtesy of mr cecil fitch the whole of the concert party ac com compacted compan panted led by rev T owen jones visited the water lily shaft and were greatly interested in what they saw above and below the surface during their stay in eureka the concert party were entertained by mrs harry pitts and mrs W R nesbit |
