When a person says "this Tuesday" (or "this..." any other particular day), to which Tuesday are they referring? Is "this Tuesday" the same as "next Tuesday"? Wait, before you pounce at the probing problem, there are a few points to ponder. If today is Wednesday, does "this Tuesday" mean yesterday, or the Tuesday that is coming up? In this case, the tense of the verb would dictate which Tuesday is meant. For instance, "This Tuesday I went skiing," indicates that the Tuesday in question has already past; whereas, "This Tuesday I'm going skiing," shows it's the Tuesday that's coming up. So "this Tuesday" can be yesterday or next week... Most people I asked said that "this Tuesday" was the Tuesday that was coming up. So, what about "next Tuesday"? Now, to me, "next" implies the one immediately following... "next Tuesday" being the Tuesday following whatever today is. Most people I asked agreed with this definition. But if today is Wednesday and "this Tuesday" is tomorrow and "next Tuesday" is the next closest Tuesday, that makes "this Tuesday" and "next Tuesday" actually the same Tuesday? One person I asked said that "next Tuesday" is actually the Tuesday after the Tuesday coming up. But if that's the case, if today is Wednesday, March 21, "this Tuesday" would be the Tuesday coming up, March 28, and "next Tuesday" would be the Tuesday following, or April 3. But I can tell you, if on Wednesday, March 21, I said "next Tuesday", I guarantee I would certainly not be referring to two Tuesdays down the road. If that's what I meant, I would have said "Tuesday after next..." But, depending on what "next Tuesday" meant, the Tuesday after the Tuesday after the Tuesday coming up could easily be Tuesday. April 3. With all the questions that "this Tuesday" and "next Tuesday" bring to mind, I won't raise the question as to what is meant be "last Tuesday." Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir in the water and black olives and seasonings. Simmer for about 15 minutes stirring frequently. Slowly pour in the marinara sauce and give it a gentle stir. Remove from the heat. Place a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Cover with a layer of dry noodles. Spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese over the noodles and sprinkle with a little of the mozzarella cheese. Take about a tsp of the parsley flakes and roll them in your fingers as you sprinkle them across the cheeses like a garnish. Cover with a good layer of meat sauce and repeat the layers ending with the meat sauce on top. Reserve about 1 /2 cup of mozzarella to melt on top at the end. Bake for 45 minutes in the preheated oven. Your lasagna is cooked when you can easily stick a fork in it. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella across the top and place back in the oven for about 10 minutes until a light bubbly brown. Sprinkle a little more parsley flakes for garnish on top before serving.
