FFA Opening Social FFA REPORTER: ZAINA DEWEESE On Monday, Aug. 31, the North Summit FFA held their opening social to welcome all the new FFA members to the chapter. The FFA theme for the year is WANTED. For this month it was WANTED: FFA MEMBERS. So for opening social we had our member “Round Up.” We gathered at the park and played games like horseshoes, wheelbarrow racing, hay tossing, and we even had a competition to see who could dress up a goat the fastest. The members had a surprise when two state officers showed up, Amberley Snyder the State President and Emy Peterson the State Reporter. The winners of the wheelbarrow race were: Anna Donaldson and Amberly Snyder. The horse shoe toss winner was Darby Richins. Goat dressing was won by Felix and Dalton Wright. Dalton Ross was the winner of the hay toss. After having some fun the members got to make homemade ice cream and to go along with the ice cream they got home-made root beer too. To encourage members to pay their FFA dues we held a drawing for some FFA Hoodies. The winners of the Hoodies were: Mario Carreno, Anayeli Rodgriguez, Anna Donaldson and Brooke Preator. We closed the night with reflections. Reflections is a short program at the close of an FFA event to reflect of what we learned and to leave a thought for the future with our FFA members. We had a great night. We’d like to thank everyone who came and everyone who helped out! Just a reminder if you have forgotten who the North Summit Chapter Officers are for the 2009-2010 school year: President, Kashie Roath; Vice-Presidents Wade Donaldson and Shyanne Ovard; Secretary, Natalie Donaldson; Treasurer, Josh Ovard; Reporter, Zaina DeWeese; Sentinel, Kaydee Bowen; and Cassidy Stephens as Historian. The North Summit schools are all in session, and children are busy attending their after-school activities. Watch out for them, especially with the construction going on in Coalville!
