Thursday, October 14, 2010 TOYS Gunnison Valley Senior Citizens (The Recycled Teenagers) by REED ROBERTS Continued from Page 1 by all volunteers; no one gets paid including the managers and the legal staff. All the hardwood used to make the toys is donated by cabinet shops. It is usually scrap wood that would have been wasted if not for this worthwhile endeavor. Most other supplies are purchased from manufacturers with donated funds. The major expense of the toys are the wheels and axle pegs. The cost of each toy to produce is about fifty cents. All funding for the Happy Factory is donated by various individuals and organizations. The Happy Factory's motto is "We take some wood that would be wasted, mix it with some time that would be wasted, and make a toy to stimulate a mind so that it won't be wasted." If you would like more information you can call the Happy Factory at 435-5868352, visit at 896 N. 2175 W. Cedar City or visit their website at www.happyfactory.org October's monthly social is rapidly approaching us, so this is your reminder. Monday, October 18th at 6 p.m. is the date and time. The new Gunnison City Hall is the place. Bring your dishes, a potluck salad or dessert and come enjoy an evening of good food, entertainment, and good friends. The Six County meals are being served at the Gunnison City Hall on Mondays thru Thursdays of each week. Call Lorna Campbell at 528-3781 to reserve your meal. Lorna is the administrator of the Six County meals programs for the Gunnison Valley area (she does a great job) so when you have a chance to thank her, please do so. The quilting program is also going strong. It is the main way the Senior Citizen program earns money to fund other activities. These ladies do a wonderful job, so if you need a quilt for some special occasion or would like to come join in the quilting, contact Phyllis Allred (528-5848), Judy McMahon (528-5828), or LuAnn Peterson (528-7777) for the days and times. Thanks again to all in the Gunnison Valley Area residents and businesses who support this very worthwhile program. Remember Monday evening October 18th at 6 p.m. Come and join in the activities.
