The Eagles scored early and often and the Dogs only managed to put one score on the board. The final score was 51-6 for the Eagles. With this defeat, the Dogs were eliminated from the state playoffs. The girls weren’t able to gain control of the first two sets against the Wolves and lost 11-25 and 2025. But after being down two games the team was able to come back and win the third set 25-14. This wasn’t enough though to win the meet, they ended up losing the last match 17-25. Senior Cami Carlisle had a great night completing 16 perfect passes and finishing the night with a total of 33 passes. She also had 1 block, 9 digs and 4 kills. “Capri Kimball was our best server of the night serving 10-12,” said Coach Melissa Hall. Kayli Frandsen had 2 blocks. Sara Brown scored for the Bulldogs with 5 kills and she also had 5 digs. Maddie Powell also had 5 digs but her great success came in hitting. “Maddie was our best hitter this game with 16 attacks on the ball and 3 kills,” explained Coach Hall. Heading into senior night the Bulldogs knew they were facing tough competition. Not only is Grand ranked #1 in 2A, but the state-wide rankings have Grand ranked up there as one of the #1 teams as well. The team lost the sets 12-25, 12-25 and 10-25. “We went into that game knowing that we were going up against the #1 ranked team and con- Cari Hansen/GVG Senior Rayel Sorenson was honored with her parents Brent and Vivian Sorenson. They did really well.” Cami Carlisle had an excellent passing game with 28 great passes, 5 digs and 4 kills. Capri Kimball led the team with 100% serving, and Kayli Frandsen scored for the Bulldogs with 3 kills. When asked how she feels about the upcoming State Competition on Thursday at 4:30 at UVU, Coach Hall says, “I fully anticipate going into round three on Friday. We have been practicing a little differently this week to prepare for the higher caliber game. If we continue hitting and serving during the tournament the way we are in practice, we are going to do great!” 64 East 100 North • Gunnison (435) 528-7246 Richard Anderson, MD General Surgery Wade Anderson, PA-C Family Practice Provider Clinics Richard Anderson, MD ..................................................
