YW RECOGNITION Shayna Natee Syme Shayna Natee Syme, the daughter of Len and Tammy Gasser of Ephraim recently received her Young Womanhood Recognition Award. Shayna is a member of the Ephraim 7th Ward and a sophomore at Manti High School. She is active in the drill team, track and is sophomore class secretary. Elliot Raymond Petersen Farewell Scott Andersen Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Mission Scott Andersen, son of Paul and Mary Lou Andersen of Gunnison, has been called to serve in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Scott will be speaking in the Gunnison 3rd Ward on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 10:45 a.m. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on Feb. 16, 2005. Scott Andersen Homecoming Rhett Anderson Houston East, Texas Mission Rhett Anderson, son of Johnny and Sherrie Anderson of Mayfield, returned home from serving in the Houston East, Texas Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Jan. 16, 2005. He will report on his mission on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 10:50 a.m. in the Mayfield Ward. Welcome home, Rhett. Rhett Anderson Farewell Brian Braithwaite Michigan, Detroit Mission Brian Lynn Braithwaite, the son of Paul and Marian Cox Braithwaite of Brigham City, has been called to serve in the Michigan, Detroit Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. He entered the Missionary Training Center on Jan. 12, 2005. Brain spoke in the Brigham City 1st Ward on Jan. 9. Brian graduated from Box Elder High School and was very active in tennis. He has been attending Snow College last semes- Elliot Raymond Petersen, age 82, died of natural causes incident to age on Jan. 23, 2005 at the Utah Veteran’s Nursing Home. Elliot was born Nov. 1, 1922 in Manti to George William and Pearl Eva Buchanan Petersen. He married Beverly Jensen June 30, 1950 in Manti Utah LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; five children, Kathryn (Robert) Shields, Meridian, Idaho; Jody (Lee) Snelgrove, Francis; Darla Petersen, Sandy; David (Ruth) Petersen, Casper, Wyo.; Karen (Klaus) Kunigk, Schweinsberg, Germany; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Rex and Larry Petersen; and sister, Sandra (John) Larsen. He was preceded in death by two children, Ruth and John Elliot Petersen; parents; brother, Harlan; and sisters, Pauline Dawson and Betty Betz. Elliot served in WWII in the South Pacific from December 1941 to June 1945. He was employed as an electronic technician with Western Electric, Sperry Utah, and retired from Hill Air Force Base after 21 years there. He enjoyed singing, for which he had a beautiful talent, fishing, friends and his family. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at noon at the Winder 7th LDS Ward Chapel, Brian Braithwaite ter. Brian is the grandson of Wilbur and Jane Braithwaite and Edda and the late Lynn R. Cox. Christiansen-Boshard Shayna Natee Syme Christina Mann Kay Edward Thomson, 45, of Ephraim passed away Jan. 21, 2005, in Provo. He was born Aug. 31, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant to Edward “Ted” Lincoln and Ethel Kay Taylor Thomson. He married MaryAnn Joy Reece, June 25, 1981, in the Salt Lake Temple. Kay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He fulfilled a mission to Sacramento, California and has served in the elders’quorum, young men’s, and Sunday school presidency, as ward clerk, and as stake financial clerk. Kay was a great dad and loved to watch his children play sports. He was a hard worker and provided well for his family and loved his children with all his heart. Kay has owned the Malt Shop in Ephraim for the past 24 years. He was jack-of-all-trades and was always willing to help others. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn, Ephraim; children, Nathan Kay (Felicia) Thomson, Ephraim; Justin William Thomson, serving in the Texas San Antonio Mission; Jason Edward Thomson; Tyler Andrew Thomson; Aubree Joy Thomson; Danielle Marie Thomson; Easton Jacob Thomson; parents, Ted and Ethel Kay Taylor, Ephraim; Tevon Chad Fisher 1/25/94 I love you with all my heart son. Brandon is a 1998 graduate of Timpview high school. He fulfilled a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines, Angeles mission. He attended Utah Valley State College and graduated with a degree as a paramedic-firefighter. He is currently employed with the Eagle Mountain Fire department and American Fork Hospital emergency room. He is a licensed real estate agent for Century 21 Cen- tral Realty Inc. He has a part-time job with Sundance Ski Patrol. Linsi is a 2002 graduate of Gunnison Valley high school. She received her Associate of Science Degree from Utah Valley State College. Linsi has attended Utah Valley State College on dance scholarship as a member of Utah Regional Ballet. She has studied classical ballet extensively with Jacqueline College School of Ballet in American Fork for the past eight years. The couple will make their first home in Provo while Linsi continues her education in radiology and dance Brandon and Linsi will be honored on their wedding day with a family luncheon.
