Show tintic gintic leads in silver production for 1920 victor C halkes of 0 the TJ U S geo logical survey has just made advance figures f regarding the mineral production ot of the various counties of utah during the year 1920 fourteen of the utah counties are in the list as producers of gold silver copper lead or zinc it Is a matter of satisfaction to the people of tintic gintic to know that our mines are responsible for the enviable position which juab county occupies in this table of figures juab county and in this Instance it means tintic leads all other counties of the state in the matter of silver production while we are second in the prodoc tion of gold copper and lead it Is some record tor for tintic gintic to be first of all utah counties in the r production of one of the metals and second in the production of three of the other metals juab county s silver output toi fol 1920 according to mr heikes figures was 4 ounces salt lake summit and utah counties each exceeded 2 and the amount credited to the last men cloned county really belonged to the t tintic gintic district because it came from the well known tintic gintic standard and other tintic gintic mines by adding the amount of silver produced in utan and juab counties it will give us nearly 7 ounces as the total for the tintic gintic mines for 1920 th tha chief and the standard are of cojoe course the biggest producers of silver in the state of utah and among the heaviest producers of the white medal in the entire country con sider ably more than halt half of the silver credited to utah tw for 1920 20 was extracted from the ores from tintic gintic properties utah s total amount of silver to toj 1920 wa ounces or an increase of 0 nearly 2 ounces over the previous year salt lake county having the big copper properties naturally mined and treated the largest amount of ore over 6 tons juab county or exclusive of the tintic gintic standard was second with more than a quarter of a million tons and if ve ne add the output of the tintic gintic standard the tonnage will amount to about tons gold is a by product with the copper and naturally salt lake county shipped more gold than juab county but outside of salt lake no other county approached juab s record tor for gold production which was 27 ounces plute plate had over 10 ounces and summit county over 3 ounces of gold utah county which again means the tintic gintic standard and other mines of gintic which are within the boundaries ot of that county was credited with 2 ounces ol 01 gold juab county a copper output for 1920 was 2 pounds while our cownty a lead production was 27 pounds and with a re cord of pounds ot of zinc tin tic tie mines which are in utah county aso produced pounds ot of copper and 14 pounds of lead most ot of the zinc shipments for 1920 were from salt lake and sum mit counties it Is gratifying to the friends of the great mining industry to note that the total tonnage from utah mines tor for 1920 exceeded that of 1919 also that the production silver lead and zinc showed an in crease gold production declined and there was a 4 substantial decrease in the copper shipments |
