Show Page 6 The Ogden Valley News Volume XXX Issue VII June 15, 2023 Announcements Obituaries Lynnette Jean McBride Poulson Lynnette Poulson April 16, 1941 ~ June 2, 2023 Lynnette Jean McBride Poulson returned home to our loving Heavenly Father in Heaven, peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born April 16, 1941, in Ogden, Utah to her loving parents Wilford & Beatrice Shaw McBride. She spent her childhood and young adult life in downtown Ogden. She met her husband Vernal David Poulson in Ogden as a teenager and married him June 7, 1958. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, January 12, 1965. While raising five children in Eden, Utah, she worked hard and had a very creative, vivid, and active imagination which she developed and shared with all of the generations that followed. She loved and enjoyed many arts, crafts, hobbies, and activities including oil painting, jewelry making, rock hounding, landscaping, home improvements, outdoor survival, camping, backpacking, antique dolls, and antiques in general. Lynnette helped to provide for her evergrowing family by working various jobs and eventually retired from Hill Air Force Base. She was a great humanitarian and felt an overwhelming need to help anyone or anything in need. She loved all animals and frequently adopted stray cats and even deer. Lynnette also had a passionate love of trees and plants. She was very vocal and opinionated; often being the cause of debates and conversation, which was part of her spicy charm! Lynnette loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an amazing ability to sing and recite without hesitation, the most fun and oldest nursery rhymes. She loved bringing everyone together for all the holidays with activities and games. Lynnette was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. After becoming a widow at the age of 70, Lynnette worked at Abby’s Antiques in Ogden with her dearest friends, one of which was her childhood best friend, Jane Thurman. Lynnette lives on through her amazing children Lisa Ann (Mike) Helms, Amy Beth (Steve) Malan, Vernal Travis (Christine) Poulson, Vernal Dustin (Kimberly) Poulson, and Tawnee Dale (Nick) Jex; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Ogden Regional Emergency Center along with the Weber County Paramedics for their kindness and compassion. Funeral services were held June 8, 2023 at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Interment at Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Deceased Dorothy Marie Sutton Nicolaysen, 94, died May 26, 2023. Dolores Bingham Tippetts, 93, died June 6, 2023. Clair J. Shaw June 27, 1931 ~ June 2, 2023 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clair J. Shaw, a loyal, dedicated, adventurous, and resilient soul, who left this world June 2, 2023. Born on June 27, 1931 in Ogden, Clair Shaw Utah, Clair spent his 91 years living a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. A true pillar of the community, Clair’s unwavering spirit and dedication to his family, friends, and work will forever be remembered and cherished. He attended Valley School, Weber High School, and Weber College where he pursued his passion for automotive technology. He minored in business. Clair was a man who wore many hats throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Jacqueline, whom he married June 5, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a loving father to his five children: Mitchell, Stephanie, Kelly, Julie, and Becky. Clair served his country with honor for two years in the Army’s 45th Infantry, achieving the rank of Sergeant and receiving the Bronze Star for bravery. He had a fulfilling 26-year career with the Weber County Fire Department. Starting as a firefighter in 1957, Clair quickly rose through Spencer Newell Malan October 9, 1990 ~ May 23, 2023 Spencer Newell Malan, affectionately known as Spence, was a loyal, compassionate, witty, and supportive husSpencer Malan John Richard Oliver band, son, brother, and friend. In his free time, Clair was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, with hobbies that included hunting, farming, dancing, skiing, basketball, and baseball. His adventurous spirit and love for life were contagious, inspiring those around him to live their lives to the fullest and never shy away from a new experience. His resilience and dedication were not only evident in his work but also in the way he approached his hobbies and interests. Clair is survived by his children: Kelly (Mareena) Shaw, Julie (Greg) Duke, Becky Lincoln, and daughter-in-law Heidi Shaw; 16 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Shaw; mother, Elizabeth Lindsey Shaw; beloved wife, Jacqueline Shaw; son, Mitchell Clair Shaw; daughter, Stephanie Leo; son-in-law Troy Lincoln; and brothers Don Carlos Shaw and Eddy L. Shaw. The family would like to thank The George E. Whalen Veterans Home and the Bristol Hospice staff for their loving care of Dad. A funeral service was held in Clair’s honor Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Liberty Ward Chapel, l279 N. 3300 E., Liberty, Utah. Interment, Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary. Currently he was employed with PacifiCorp as a security monitoring specialist. In his free time, he loved UFC, longboarding, Pokémon, soccer, golf, watching sports and just hanging out with his wife and friends. He had a zest for life and a love for competition. He married Rachel Powell on October 1, 2022. Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Rachel; her children, Eloise and Alexander Andrews; his mother and father, Allyn and Mark Malan; his sisters, Samantha (Creighton) Shumway, Alexis (Trevor) Corbett, and Makenzie (Jake) Allred; grandmother, Diane Malan; and five nieces and nephews with one on the way. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Tracy and Patrick Powell. A celebration of Spencer’s life was held May 30, 2023 at the Coldwater Stake Center, 770 E. 2100 N., North Ogden, Utah.
