CREATIVITY IN ARTMAKING: A WORKSHOP WITH XI ZHANG Visual artist Xi Zhang will host a workshop from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Kimball Art Center, 1401 Kearns Blvd. Zhang will focus on techniques for generating art ideas that are abnormal and unexpected. Through lecture and group discussions, participants will practice how to construct and deconstruct their original ideas and references in order to achieve new methods of thinking about and making art. Fantasy author, game creator readies book signings and readings PARK CITY FILM: ‘1917’ Park City Film will present Sam Mendes’s Oscar-winning war epic, “1917,” rated R, from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15, at the Park City Library’s Jim Santy Auditorium, 1255 Park Ave. Friday and Saturday screenings will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday’s screening starts at 6 p.m. At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman), are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a doomed attack by thousands of soldiers — Blake’s own brother among them. WILD WONDERS AT SWANER ECOCENTER Wild Wonders, a family-friendly event, will teach about and showcase some of the wildlife that has been rescued by Wild Wonders, a nonprofit organization.
