So definitely keep an eye on those guys.” Heading into this season, Wolle said his goal is to make as many World Cup finals as possible. With that goal in mind this week, Wolle has worked with U.S. halfpipe coaches JJ Thomas, Rick Shimpeno and Ricky Bower to finalize his run for Thursday. With the finals in mind, Wolle said he likely will do a five-hit run through the extra-long pipe that features a double Michalchuk to a frontside 900 to a backside 540 with a double grab for more style. Wolle then hopes to punctuate the run with a frontside double cork 1080 and a cab double cork 1080. With eyes toward next year, Wolle is working off snow on airbags to bump those 1080s up to 1260s, but for now, he hopes his plan for Thursday is good enough to get through. “This is the season to throw down and have a good time,” Wolle said. On the women’s side, without 2018 Pyeongchang gold medalist Chloe Kim competing, 2018 Burton U.S. Open superpipe champion Maddie Mastro is the face of this week’s competition. To improve on her runner-up finish at the Grand Prix last December, Mastro will have to fend off several top challengers, including Steamboat Springs native and Breckenridge resident Arielle Gold, who won the bronze medal in the halfpipe at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. Thursday’s qualifying rounds are scheduled to take place between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Copper Mountain’s Center Village. going to respond in his first true competition back from the injury, but gives credit to his brother Jon for getting him ready up to that point. Attempting his first triple backflip since the injury, Lillis suffered a gruesome and devastating looking crash, but walked away with nothing more than some body soreness. “I had just taken 10 months off from jumping on snow, so trying to get back into it with the same fearlessness as before was difficult,” Lillis said. “That crash really shot me down, but then I talked to my brother and he sort of set me straight. He sat me down and told me ‘you’re going to go again because it’s who you are,’ and that really helped me move forward from that point on.” But now with his comeback season complete, and him once being mentioned among some of the best in the sport, the pressure is really back for Lillis. This offseason really allowed him to better himself and work ahead. He took a huge step forward with being able to physically train his body to compete at the highest level, but now he must go out and do that. “Physically I’ve never felt better but now it’s about switching my mindset form playing catch up to now just getting better and wanting to be the best in the world,” Lillis said. “It’s easy to doubt yourself when you’ve been injured, but going through everything I have with my brother, doing this is in my blood. I fully believe I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be at in life.” LITTLE FOOT INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE the Park City High School baseball coaching staff and will focus on skills, drills and fun.
