Park City History Lecture: John Branch John Branch, a Pulitzer-winning sports reporter for The New York Times, will give a lecture based on his latest book, “The Last Cowboys,” at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Park City Library, 1255 Park Ave. The book is a portrait of a southern Utah rodeo family as they fight for their livelihood through numerous rodeo injuries, missions and the National Rodeo Finals. Free Youth Mental Health First Aid Training CONNECT Summit County, a mental wellness nonprofit, will host a free youth mental health first aid training session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Park City Hospital’s Blair Education Center, 900 Round Valley Drive at Quinn’s Junction. Joined on his quest by his best friend Mont (Jonathan Majors), Jimmie searches for belonging in a rapidly changing city that seems to have left them behind. General admission tickets are $8. CONNECT also hosts a support group for parents and guardians of school-age youth from 4-5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at Parley’s Park Elementary School Counseling Center, 4600 Silver Springs Drive. In addition, Connect Summit County hosts a family mental health peer support group at 6:15 p.m. every last Tuesday of the month at the Park City Library, 1255 Park Ave. The sessions are free and open to the public. This group covers topics relevant to all people struggling with any type of disordered eating. Some topics include, but are not limited to; intuitive eating, body image, emotional eating, triggers and coping skills, mindfulness, and self esteem. NAMI Family Support Group NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers a free Family Support Group in Wasatch and Summit counties for family members who have loved ones struggling with mental health concerns.
