Take the solar survey at SCPWSolar.org Made possible by A woman who heard another woman yelling “my husband is beating me up” called deputies to report the incident on Sept. 10, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies responded to Mirror Lake Highway, they found a man and woman who were both intoxicated. The woman had several marks on her face and neck, and the injuries were consistent with those made when someone is choked, the report states. The woman was uncooperative, according to the report, refusing to give a statement or allow deputies to photograph her injuries. Deputies found the man was violating an active protection order, and he was taken to jail without incident. According to the Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement responded to several other calls between Monday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 15, including a $2,000 fraud perpetrated by someone pretending to be a Summit County sheriff’s lieutenant and someone putting sugar in a Kamas man’s vehicle. Sunday, Sept. 15 An Outlets Park City store suspects it lost about $2,500 in merchandise to a group of thieves the manager believed was using special bags to thwart anti-theft devices. Deputies indicated no one observed the theft, that there was no description of the suspects and that the case would be referred to the Investigations Division. A woman realized she’d been scammed after the vehicle she believed she purchased was never delivered and the supposed seller stopped communicating after receiving payment. The woman told deputies she had sent $1,400 in gift cards to the suspect. Deputies indicated the case would be referred to the Investigations Division. Friday, Sept. 13 A package was stolen from a Kimball Junction lobby sometime Friday afternoon. Deputies indicated they would follow up and attempt to obtain surveillance footage. Several storage lockers were burglarized at a Kimball Junction apartment building. One man reported losing two drills and a chainsaw. The property manager emailed residents to inform them locks had been broken off several lockers and property had been taken. Deputies indicated the manager was attempting to get surveillance footage and they would follow up. Though a Kamas man said he has no enemies that would commit such a crime against him, someone put sugar into his Jeep Wrangler’s gas tank, causing about $1,000 in damage. Deputies indicated there was no evidence or information about a potential suspect. Thursday, Sept. 12 A man lost his pistol while out hunting near Francis. The man said he was bow-hunting around S.R. 35 when he lost the Glock 30. He had purchased it a while ago and did not know its serial number. Deputies indicated the case has been closed. Wednesday, Sept. 11 A Pinebrook resident reported skis, motorcycle equipment and several bicycles were taken from her garage overnight. Deputies indicated they noticed a doorbell camera on a neighboring home and were attempting to contact the residents to review the footage and would follow up. A fraud victim is out $2,000 after someone pretending to be a Summit County sheriff’s lieutenant called and asked the person to purchase prepaid credit cards. The Kimball Junction person bought the cards and gave the fraudster the card numbers over the phone before realizing it was a fraud. Deputies indicated they would follow up. Three bicycles were stolen from an open Jeremy Ranch garage overnight. The man provided serial numbers for two of the three, which have been listed as stolen in a national database. Deputies indicated a surveillance system on a neighboring house may have captured the incident and they would follow up. Tuesday, Sept. 10 A 35-year-old Oakley man entered his estranged wife’s home after banging on the windows and doors. He was later located and arrested. A Wanship storage facility was burglarized, with a thief removing a lock and entering a storage locker, stealing electronics. Deputies indicated the case would be referred to the Investigations Division. A man was cited for misdemeanor assault after allegedly hitting a woman in the face after a dispute about a parking spot. The woman was waiting in her car for the school bus to drop off kids when the man started yelling at her. He then struck her in the face and prevented her from rolling up her window. Monday, Sept. 9 A Summit Park home was burglarized, though there was no sign of forced entry. The person who called in the report said the home is on the market and the Realtor’s key box was missing. Deputies indicated they had collected fingerprints, took pictures of the home and would forward the case to the Investigations Division. An ex-boyfriend came to a woman’s place of employment and poured a can of beer on her then left in a rental car. Deputies indicated charges would be screened with the County Attorney’s Office. Deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence near the Canyons Village base area of Park City Mountain Resort. The incident was initially reported as a verbal argument, but both people involved told deputies it turned physical and they had been pushed. The couple is going through a divorce. The man left the residence on his own. Deputies indicated the case would be referred to the County Attorney’s Office for potential charges. |
