Show C1 Life Is The Emery County Review, Tuesday, October 7, 2008 Swell Emery and Carbon Counties, Utah u Living in the San Rafael Swell Area u Animal Life C5 Celebrating Arts the T hough Emery and Carbon Counties may not be able to rival the arts culture of New York, Chicago or even Salt Lake City, the citizens of the area are often treated to art which outsiders might consider to be of unexpected quality. Many would trace the beginnings of the area’s art culture back to only the 1800s, but it in fact stretches back more than 2,000 years, as seen in the petroglyphs of the Buckhorn panel, the Rochester panel and others such examples of ancient rock art. Today, the two-county area boasts a number of museums, along with the Helper Arts Festival and the Emery County Folk Art Festival, productions by the Emery County Community Theatre, and Carbon and Emery High Drama clubs, the College of Eastern Utah’s Gallery East, and more. Continued on Page C2. The work of Jennifer Marie Suflita will be on display at the CEU Gallery East through October.
