From first-grade is Erika Garcia from Mrs. Shalese Roger's class. Mrs. Rogers says, "Erika is always a good friend and kind to others. She is a hard worker. You'll never see Erika without a smile on her face. It is a joy to have Erika in our class!" Tyson Burk is from Mrs. RaDawn Pack's secondgrade class. Mrs. Pack says. "Tyson is a responsible, kind, hard working student. He is a great friend to everyone. He always follows the rules and treats every- one with respect." From Mrs. Kathy Moon's third-grade class is Rylan Hermansen. Mrs. Moon says, "Rylan is a good example to everyone in our class. He is a good friend to everyone and always includes everyone that wants to join in. I have never heard Rylan say anything mean to anyone. Rylan is our hero because he is kind, nice and respectful to others!" Fourth-grade Hansen Hero is Madyson Mann from Mrs. Larina Quispe's class. Mrs. Quispe says, "Madyson is always a hard worker, friendly to everyone and very helpful. We are happy to have Madyson in our class!" From Mrs. Cynthia Loreen's fifth-grade class is Mallory Sorensen. Mrs. Loreen says, "Mallory always goes above and beyond on all of her work. She puts in extra time and effort. Mallory has perfect behavior. We are so lucky to have her in our class!" Josie Mann is the sixthgrade Hansen Hero. Josie is in Mrs. Kara MikeselFs class. Mrs. Mikesell says, "Josie is a fantastic student! She tries hard on all of her assignments and motivates her friends to do the same. Josie looks for ways to help make our classroom a better place!" Courtesy photos REACHING 100: East Meadows kindergarten students have reached 100! On Wednesday, Feb. 10, the kindergarten classes celebrated 100's day. Students were very creative in finding 100 objects to represent the day. Most students wore their items on their shirts. Linkon Garside spelled his name with Skittles. Rilen Sharp is paperclipped and Gavin Ericksen is plastered with pennies. Brockbank SCIENCE-SMART: Congratulations to the following East Meadows science fair winners. These 5th and 6th grade students get to take their projects to the district fair which will be held on Feb. 24 at Diamond Fork Jr. High. They are: Nic Klassen and Mitchell Jenkins: The Digestive System of Dogs vs. Humans; Dallin Harding: Now Hear This; Jonathan Cook: Take 2 Video Games; Rebecca Haisman: Air Particles/Air Quality; Terrah Sawka: Does Heat Really Damage Hair?; Braden Karp: Distracted Driving; Tate Colton: Tracking my Heart Rate; and Thomas Stephens: What Gives Off Radioactive Energy? Courtesy photo LIFE SCIENCE: Friday, Jan. 29, Sterling Randle, a representative from Bean Life Science Museum came to Brockbank to teach the fourth graders about science. He talked about common plants and animals in three major Utah ecosystems, forests, deserts and wetlands, and how plants and animals have adapted to their environment in these ecosystems. He also talked about how to help conserve these environments. Mr. Randle brought an albino toad, a tarantula and a snake for the students to see up close. It was very interesting and the students enjoyed it. Canyon LOVING IT: To celebrate Valentine's Day, East Meadows students got to decorate different kinds of boxes with various themes. Some of the themes are I Love Utah, Love Bugs, I Love America and Simple Machines. These kindergarten students are displaying Humpty Dumpty, Mary, Mary Quite Contrary and Mary Had a Little Lamb to represent their nursery rhyme theme. Young Adult Fireside Courtesy photo PRESIDENTIAL: Canyon second grade students made murals of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln to display in the hall in honor of President's. The murals were put together like a grid. Each student was given a piece of paper with a section to color with oil pastels. After all of the sections were colored, they were organized and taped together to form the completed pictures. Pictured, left to right, are Tyler Swasey, Eliza Bowman, Megan Yeates, Isiah Arellano and Megan Hansen. A Young Adult Regional Fireside will be held at Spanish Fork West Stake House (400 North 650 West) on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Brad Wilcox. Brad is on the faculty at BYU where he is an associate professor in the Department of Teacher Education. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy and children's literature. Brad is know for his work with youth programs held at BYU such as Especially for Youth and Campus Education Week. He presided over the Chile Santiago East Mission and currently serves as a member of the Sunday School General Board. All young adults in our region are invited to this special fireside. |
