Teachers select students each month from their class whose work is exceptionally well done. They put the students' work on our Good Work Wall for the whole school to see. At the end of the month, Principal Alison Hansen goes into each classroom and celebrates with the students whose work was selected for the Good Work Wall and hands out a gift certificate from a local restaurant for a free ice cream cone, a free taco, etc. Mrs. Laurel Koyle's class had fourteen students in the month of October that received special recognition. Through technology and use of the internet, students will observe tulip gardens around the globe to track the arrival of spring. They will observe the effects of weather and climate and watch for tulips to bloom. Pictured above, from left to right, are Cameron Smith, Emma Huish, Lorin Wyss, Jarom Jones and Megan Singerman. Pictured in the background is Corinne Mayberry from Thanksgiving Point. Many thanks to Thanksgiving Point for providing the bulbs. Spanish Oaks first graders visit museum Spanish Oaks FirstGrade visits the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. In October, seven classes of first-grade students from Spanish Oaks Elementary attended the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. Students were amazed at the different types of dinosaurs they saw as well as how many differ- ent sizes there were! In their science rotations, the first-grade students learned about what real scientists do; they observe, describe, predict, investigate, classify and solve problems. The students put their own scientific skills to the test at the museum as they dug through sand for dinosaur bones. They even drew their own pictures of dinosaur fossils by looking at pictures. Special thanks go to Mrs. Carolyn Aagard. a firstgrade teacher at Spanish Oaks. She made the field trip possible as she applied for a grant from the museum for all seven first-grade classes to attend! It was a memorable day which the students will never foraet. Brockbank teacher recieves Crystal Apple Brockbank Elementary is very proud to have Lisa Muirbrook as our Crystal Apple recipient. Lisa is a wonderful teacher. She believes that every student should be given the right to learn all that they can. As a teacher she provides them with the structure and knowledge that they need to succeed. She makes them feel important and needed. Lisa is also very kind and helpful to staff and teachers alike. She is very willing to volunteer help when needed. The third-grade team looks up to her when they have computer problems, need help with math and to teach the classes songs for their programs. She makes their team run a lot smoother. Lisa believes in life long learning and is constantly taking classes to better herself as an educator. She received her Master's Degree last year, while helping to teach the classes. Her wisdom and knowledge • help Brockbank School to be the best. Congratulations Lisa!
