Show A14 • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2009 orts SP Covering what matters most Skyhawks hold soccer awards night The Salem Hills Soccer team conducted their awards night on May 26, 2009 to recognize the boys and their outstanding season. The boys and parents enjoyed a meal from Brick Oven and a video of the season, courtesy of Rick Darling. Varsity team ended the year with a 8-6-1 record and played into the first round of the state playoffs. The JV team ended the year with a 13-1 record. Neal Pemberton and Justin Sly were recognized as Academic All-Region with 3.89 and 3.77 GPAs, respectively. Neal Pemberton was also named 2nd Team All State by the Deseret News. Nineteen players were recognized with varsity letters; 11 of those players will return for next season. S The seven seniors, Neal Pemberton,Trevor Mortensen, Andres Reyes, Justin Sly, Mat Poulsen, Boyce Weber and Tyler Kilmer, and the one foreign exchange student, Bjorn Bader, were honored with embroidered blankets and a framed action photo of each of them. . The four captains, Mat Poulsen, Justin Sly, Boyce Weber and Neal Pemberton, were recognized for their leadership in unifying players from five different schools. The players and coaches thank their fans who travelled all over the state to support them, and the local papers for recognizing their games throughout the season.
