"Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, after the boy's basketball practice at Spanish Fork Junior High School, a car-fire broke out outside our gym. Coach Jesse Roberts, a very great coach, teacher, friend, and person in general, was willing to put his life in danger by putting himself in front of the flaming car with only a fire extinguisher and not even close to the proper equipment to fight a fire of any range. This act of courage really Jesse Roberts shows how much Mr. Roberts cares about our school. I really look up to him and what he does for us. I know I can say1 the same for the rest of usLobos!" Lady Diamondbacks are playing well Diamond Fork Junior High School's Lady Diamondback basketball team has had a wonderful season thus far, full of 'opportunities to learn and grow. This season, Jessica Cable and Marian Dawe were the team selected captains. They have been a great example of hard work, dedication and a positive attitude. The Lady Diamondbacks have been working together as a team. If one player is having an off night, someone always seems to step in and have a sensational night. They told the students how important it is for them to set goals and to be a team player. This is true not just in sports but in life • whether it be at school or at home. As a surprise visitor, Grizz came and played goalie for fifth-grade student Austin Robinson. It was a fun and educational assembly! The substitute players have been a key to the Lady Diamondbacks success this year as well. They are very dedicated, unselfish and work extremely hard. Because the Lady Diamondbacks work so well together as a team, there has been a great amount of improvement throughout the season, finishing up this week with a victory over Springville Junior High School. The Lady Diamondbacks hope to continue to improve and finish the season strong! Courtesy photo LADY DIAMONDBACKS: Pictured are members of the girls basketball team at DFJHS. |
