Home made-over in Zion's Paint-a-Thon A home in Spanish Fork received a makeover by local Zions Bank employees during the company's 18th annual Paint-a-Thon service project. Zibns bankers traded in balance sheets for brushes to paint and help landscape the home of a local Spanish Fork resident. In North Utah County, bankers also spruced up a home in Lehi. 54 homes throughout Utah and Idaho were brightened up during the Painta-Thon, June 16 through 20. More than 3,000 Zions Bank employees and their families volunteered to clean, scrape and paint homes in the state's largest single-employer volunteer event of its kind. The Paint-a-Thon benefits low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners. The average age of this year's homeowner is 73, with an average monthly income of $1,065. Projects completed during the annual weeklong event were selected with the assistance of state housing agencies, community organizations and local churches.. Utah has the sixth most rapidly increasing population for those 65 and over in the U.S., and ranks third for the longest life expectancy of its residents, according to the Division of Aging and Adult Services. With the aging population booming, Zions Bank is helping elderly homeowners by fixing up their homes, which enables them to live independently in the homes they love while maintaining their dignity and health. "We look forward to this rewarding service project every year," said Zions employee and Paint-a-Thon team captain Kathy Brandon. "As community bankers, we're proud to help our elderly neighbors by fixing more than $650,000 toward ons Bank's Paint-a-Thon and CEO. In addition to painting, Zions employees provided yard clean-up, pruning, mowing, planting and minor repairs as needed by homeowners. The cost for all paint and supplies was contributed by Zions Bank. Launched in 1991, Zions Bank's Paint-a-Thon began as a volunteer project for a dozen homes along Utah's Wasatch Front. Over the past 17 years, Zions Bank employees have put aside summer pastimes for a week each year — volunteering in the evenings after work and on Saturday — to paint a total of 675 homes throughout Utah and Idaho. Not counting the dollar value of Courtesy photo volunteer hours through the ZION'S PAINT: Zion's employees and volunteers paint a Spanish Fork home for Zion's years, the bank has donated annual Paint-a-Thon.
