Show N E W S Covering what matters most Spanish Fork South County Rodeo Club to host SF rodeo The members of the South Utah Rodeo Club have had a great year. They have busy competing in high school rodeos all over the state of Utah. The club will be hosting the cowboys and cowgirls this weekend in Spanish Fork. We would like to welcome all rodeo fans to come out and support these great kids! The rodeo will be held May 9-10 at the fair grounds in Spanish Fork. Friday May 9 the rodeo will start at 6 p.m. Friday night after the rodeo there will be a dance at the fairgrounds. Saturday slack will start at 9 a.m. The Saturday evening performance will be at 4 p.m. Best of luck to all the members of our club! WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2008 • B3 Snell honored by NIAAA The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) is pleased to announce that Doug Snell, Athletic Director at Spanish Fork High School, has been recognized by this association as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator. To earn this distinction, Doug has demonstrated exemplary knowledge, contributions and on-going professional development in the field of interscholastic athletic administration. The voluntary certification process included a thorough evaluation of the candidate's educational background, experience, NIAAA Leadership Courses and professional contributions. It is culminated with a practical written project. Doug is one of a very elite group of interscholastic athletic administrators nationwide to attain this level of professionalism. The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations and more than 6,500 individual members. It is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum. 'Goose' to retire George D. Beardall is retiring after 33 years of teaching P.E., Health, Earth Science, and Career Ed. Coach "B", as he is called by his students, has been nominated numerous times for being an outstanding teacher in the Granite School District. 1 'Goose," as he is know n here in the community, has decided it is time to change horses. It's been a good ride but a change is as good as a rest. With the price of gasoline, he decided that the timing is perfect. Goose is coming down to be a substitute in the Nebo School District. Goose would like to be on the radio again as a disc jockey if the substituting doesn't work out. Coach "B" has coached Basketball, Track & Field, Wrestling over the years, but has been the Boys Volleyball Team Coach for the last 28 years at West Lake Junior High. George started his career at Olympus High School. He was surplused to other schools including Evergreen Junior High, Kearns Junior High and as an Elementary P.E. Specialist in the Granite School District. He has been teaching and Lady Dons Golf Doug Snell George 'Goose' Beardall coaching at West Lake Junior High in West Valley City for 29 years. Goose says it's all about, "Attitude\ Everything we do is about our attitude! We can do anything and everything if we put our mind and heart into it. It's all about our attitude" Goose will still be doing his "Goose in the Wild" TV show on Channel 17 and coaching the Angels in the Pony League. AT GLADSTAN: Spanish Fork High School Golf Team played at Gladstan Golf Course on April 28. Kelsey Briggs ranked sixth with a score of 54, McKell Miner ranked seventh with a score of 55, Karlie Abptanalp ranked 10th with a score of 56, McKenna Oss ranked 13th with a score of 60, Ashley Kay, pictured left, ranked 21st with a score of 68, and Marissa Sanborn, above, ranked 27th with a score of 73.
