Huck Finn Day held at Canyon View the smallest and largest fish caught. For the first time in the history of this activity, the two bikes were won by brothers Danny and Davy Jensen of Spanish Fork. Danny caught the largest fish of the day (one lb., one oz.) and Davy caught the smallest fish (two and a half oz.) Various other prizes included fishing rods and fishing nets awarded to the best costumed Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher. They were won by: Grant Gunderson and Marissa Alldredge. Everyone had a good time and its part of what makes Spanish Fork, a great place to live. This tradition started two decades or more ago when Jack Swenson, former Spanish Fork Parks and Recreation Director, saw a clever way to get young ones interested in fishing. So that's what it's all about. Families come up to the pretty pond at Canyon View Park andfishall morning. The pond is stocked with trout from 2-16 ounces and neighborhood kids, in the tradition of Huckleberry Finn and Becky Thatcher (who according to Mark Twain spent a good amount of time on the Mississippi River fishing) find a way to reel those trout in for a prize.
